Background
The Pioneer Corporation began in Japan as an audio products
manufacturer in 1938. Nazumo Matsumoto started the business by
making speakers in his garage.
Today Pioneer is a world leader in electronics products for the
car, home, commerce and industry, respected for its role in
introducing such innovations as interactive cable TV (1977),
consumer laser disc (1979), GPS car navigation (1990), DVD-Video
player (1996), high definition plasma display (1997), organic
electroluminscent (OEL) display (1997) and digital
direct-broadcast satellite settop box (1997). Pioneer was the
first company in the world to introduce a DVD recorder and a DVD
audio player to the market.
To this day, Pioneer Electronics still develops and manufactures
innovative and high-tech entertainment and electronic products.
Embracing the corporate motto “Move the Heart, Touch the Soul,”
Pioneer employs 36,000 people in its world wide consumer
electronics business and is listed on the New York Stock
Exchange, Euronext Amsterdam, Tokyo Stock Exchange and Osaka
Securities Exchange.

Pioneer Electronics Australia’s head office is located at 178
Boundary Rd in Braeside, Victoria, where 112 staff members are
employed. Braeside houses the warehouse facility, administration
and sales and marketing functions. Close by in Mulgrave, the
service and spare parts departments are situated, employing 35
staff.
In other states, Pioneer has a sales and marketing facility in
Homebush, NSW with 22 employees, as well as a mobile sales
forces in Brisbane and Adelaide. In Perth, Pioneer is
represented by distribution agency, GBI. In total, Pioneer
Australia employs 175 people.
